Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)
Summer REU Program at the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Florida State University This is an exciting area of science, with relevance to such important phenomena as information transmission and storage, sensing technologies, solar energy conversion, photodynamic therapy, photocatalysis, and photosynthesis. Summer Internship Program Overview With Novozymes’ REU we offer real-world projects and providing interns with multiple networking opportunities. Summer Internships will last for 12 weeks, are full time, and will start in mid-May 2019. To be considered for an internship, your resume and cover letter must be received by January 21st, 2019. REU program: Sustainable Nanotechnology
Each student will be located at one of the participating institutions but will interact with faculty and students at all institutions via in-person and cyber-enabled interactions. (CSN institutions include the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Augsburg University, Boston University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Iowa, University of Maryland-Baltimore County, University of Minnesota, and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.) Students receive a stipend of $5,000; housing and travel to and from the host institution are provided. Program Dates: 10 weeks beginning late May/early June (dates to be announced). Application Deadline: February 8, 2019.
Several NNCI sites will be conducting their own separate REU programs this summer. They include:

These programs, however, will be much smaller , individual site programs, rather than the networked NNIN REU program. You should apply to each site separately according to the instructions at each link.
University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine
For current undergraduates that would be interested in future combined MD/Ph.D. programs. Participants in this program carry out independent research under the direction of an established mentor in a clinical or basic science department.
Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
REU Program at University of Delaware
The University of Delaware research experience for undergraduates in Chemistry and Biochemistry (broadly defined).
The program is unique in that they are focusing on providing students with disabilities a research and community building experience tailored to fostering success in graduate school and beyond.
The 10-week Summer REU program will be held at the University of Delaware campus in Newark, DE from June 10, 2019 to August 9, 2019. Applications are due February 1, 2019.
REU Program at Northern Illinois University
Research experience for Undergraduates. The summer internship program runs June 2 - August 10, 2019.
All participants receive a stipend of $5,000.00 (plus free housing is provided for all students). Each individual student or faculty/student team is matched with an NIU faculty mentor. Research opportunities range across a broad variety of research areas such as chemical synthesis, nonomaterials, drug discovery, protein engineering and computer modeling. Application are due by February 28, 2019.
UNT - University of North Texas - REU Program Summer 2019
The Chemistry Department, at the University of North Texas, invites applications for their Summer 2019 REU Program. The ten-week program will begin Sunday, June 2 - arrival/check-in through Friday. Program ends August 9, 2019 . Also, participants will be given a $5,000 stipend, plus housing will be provided. Funds are available to help defray travel costs to and from the REU site, which is located in the northern outskirts of the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. If you are interested, please submit your application, personal statement, transcripts and two letters of recommendation by February 15, 2019.
Singh Center for Nanotechnology at the University of Pennsylvania - Summer projects will include the traditional REU-model project, ones in which students work on a research project within a Penn faculty member’s lab, as well as unique project opportunities to work on research originating from the Singh Center research facilities themselves. Student participants will earn a $5500 stipend (before taxes, paid in installments), and will be housed within walking distance of the university with housing provided by the program. In addition, up to $500 in travel costs to Philadelphia may be eligible for reimbursement. Dates: This 10-week program runs May 28 - August 2, 2019. Application Deadline: February 15, 2019. Upstate Medical Center
Summer undergraduate research fellowship program. For students interested into careers that combine biomedical research into their chosen profession, providing them an understanding of research across disciplines and fields. Dr. Michael Cosgrove is the Director. Each fellow will be provided a $3,500 stipend for the period plus housing. The program runs June 3 - August 9, 2019. WPI REU in Chemistry, Summer 2019
WPI’s (Worchester Polytechnic Institute) Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is hosting undergraduate students from around the country at a new NSF-sponsored Research Experience for Undergraduates site. You will participate in projects ranging from membrane biochemistry to bio-inspired materials synthesis all geared toward solving important problems in biology.
PROGRAM SUPPORT—Students will receive a stipend of $5,000, a free WPI dormitory room in housing dedicated to participants in various WPI REU sites, and a travel subsidy. This 10 week program begins on May 29, 2019. Complete this form to apply for a place in WPI's REU in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Application deadline is March 1, 2019.
Virginia Tech REU Summer Research for Undergraduates.
REU Summer Research for Undergraduates: While participating in research earn $5000 stipend (plus $2500.00 living expenses). Apply by February 5, 2019. Conduct research with science and engineering faculty mentors. Rising juniors and seniors preferred. Applications are being accepted in both science and engineering on the topic of Advanced Macromolecules for Advanced Manufacturing. Program dates are May 28 - August 9, 2019. Summer REU Biophysics Program at the University of Michigan
The REU Program provides eligible undergraduate students with a truly unique, interdisciplinary research experience at the intersection of chemistry, physics, mathematics and the life sciences. The program lasts 10 weeks from June 3-August 9. Housing is provided and each student receives a stipend of $5,000 (students are expected to cover their own meals and incidentals from this stipend). We will also cover travel expenses up to $500.
Applications are due February 11, 2019.
SCI Scholars (The Society of Chemical Industry) is now accepting applications for its prestigious summer 2019 industrial internships. SCI Scholars is open to chemistry and chemical engineering majors who are current sophomore or juniors, US citizens or permanent residents with at least 3.5 (out of 4.0) cumulative GPA. Some positions have additional requirements. Selected candidates will receive:$6,000-$10,000+ stipend, depending on the internship, Certificate of recognition, $1,000 professional development stipend, Opportunity to nominate an inspiring high school chemistry teacher for recognition. Teachers will be awarded a certificate and $1,000 to support their curriculum. The application deadline is November 30, 2018.
