Our Strategic Plan

Throughout the 2023-2024 academic year, the Center for International and Intercultural Studies along with a wide variety of campus stakeholders developed a strategic plan for the upcoming five years. This strategic plan is oriented around four key pillars:

  • Fostering Financial Sustainability: In collaboration with St. Lawrence University’s commitment to financial sustainability across campus, the Center for International and Intercultural Studies is likewise committed to ensuring the longevity of our academically robust and financially accessible programming through responsible use of financial resources.
  • Reviewing and Expanding our Program Portfolio: As St. Lawrence University expands its academic offerings across campus, the Center for International and Intercultural Studies is committed to fostering opportunities that reflect the diverse academic goals of all of our students. This includes the review of current partners as well as the expansion of partnerships to reflect updates and changes to the campus curriculum.
  • Improving our Data Collection and Analysis: In line with St. Lawrence University’s commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive campus community, the Center for International and Intercultural Studies is committed to self-study and critical reflection, improving our data and internal assessment tools to better understand who we are (and are not yet) effectively serving, and using data-informed strategies to improve policies and programming.
  • Integrating Environmental Sustainability: With the introduction of the Center for the Environment at St. Lawrence University, the Center for International and Intercultural Studies understands the unequal impacts of climate change on communities around the world, the environmental cost of international study to the local and global environment, as well as the potential of off-campus experiences to foster lifelong commitment to environmental sustainability in our students; the Center for International and Intercultural Studies is committed to engage with partners in an environmentally conscious manner as well as invest in sustainable initiatives on our Signature Program offerings, while educating students on their environmental impact before, during, and after their off-campus experiences.
