Digital Media and Film
The Digital Media & Film major will enable students to integrate the critical study and analysis of emerging and traditional media with practical skills in digital media production and filmmaking. As students gain key theoretical and historical insight into various media forms, technologies, representations, and institutions, they will be empowered to pursue media making projects with attention to the ethical implications of their work. The new major directly addresses the university’s learning goals to help students achieve a “depth of understanding in at least one field” and a “capacity to examine critically the relationship between humans and technology,” while also stressing trans- and interdisciplinarity with a commitment to collaborative and experiential learning.
