We want to remind you of some preventative measures that can help keep you healthy as we approach cold & flu season.
Vaccination is one of the best ways to protect against influenza and COVID. CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends that everyone older than 6 months of age get vaccinated against the flu and COVID.
Flu vaccines are available at the Diana B. Torrey, ’82 Health & Counseling Center. Students can call 315-229-5392 to schedule an appointment. The cost is $25 which is charged to your student account. Documentation can be requested at the time of the vaccine for reimbursement as most insurance companies cover the cost of flu vaccines. The health center is not able to provide COVID vaccines at this time.
Local pharmacies also offer immunizations, including flu and COVID. Kinney Drugs and Price Chopper are less than a mile from campus. Students can schedule an appointment online through their preferred pharmacy’s website. Contact your health insurance provider to find out which pharmacies participate with your plan. The pharmacy processes the billing directly to the insurance company, so it is likely that no upfront cost is needed if you choose this option.
COVID testing options:
Every home in the U.S., including St. Lawrence University residential halls, is eligible to order 4 free at-home COVID-19 tests. Order information can be found at COVIDtests.gov. Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days. When requesting your tests through the online form, be sure to enter your name and address with SMC # in the 'APT/SUITE/Other' field. If you don’t follow the address format, the U.S. Postal Service may not recognize you as a unique resident which will prevent you from receiving your free tests.
COVID tests are also available at local pharmacies.
