Performance Management Policy
In order to attract and retain a highly qualified and competent work force, St Lawrence University has instituted a performance management program to provide employees constructive feedback and encourage their success in a fair and equitable manner based upon demonstrated job performance.
Through this program employees will receive constructive work reviews designed to address performance and skill developmental needs and interests.
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM SCHEDULE
Employees may receive constructive work reviews on the following schedule:
FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE BARGAINING UNITS:
a. work reviews compliant with specific contracts, salary increases consistent with contracts
FULL-TIME PROFESSIONAL LEVEL EMPLOYEES:
- annual work and salary review, based on anniversary of start date, appropriate annual date that is consistent with the employee’s departmental cycle, or October 1 of each year.
PART-TIME EMPLOYEES:
- annual work and salary review based on anniversary of start date, appropriate annual date that is consistent with the employee’s departmental cycle, or October 1 of each year.
FACULTY:
a. cyclical pre-tenure and promotional reviews as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
Under usual and appropriate circumstances, employees should receive a performance review annually. If an employee's job responsibilities change substantially at any time after the annual work review, however, another may be performed before the next annual review, after the new assignment has begun.
