Room Draws
Room Draw
Students not assigned housing during one of the other housing processes should participate in the room draw period in April. There will be four different room draws for different types of rooms.
April 15 — Multiples Room Draw (includes suites, blocks, quads, and triples)
April 16 — Singles Room Draw
April 22 — Doubles Room Draw for class of 2025 and 2026
April 23 - Doubles Room Draw for class of 2027
Room Draw begins at 6pm each night in Eben Holden. Please remember to bring your Housing Lottery Card and student id card. Students must have a designated proxy attend if they are unable to participate in the general room draw. The proxy must have a Housing Lottery Card from the absent person and the proxy form granting permission to the proxy to select his/her room. This also applies to proxies selecting for students currently studying in off-campus/abroad programs.
Multiples - The multiples room draw will include suites, blocks, quads, and triples.
Suites: Suites are available in Hulett and Jencks and are available for groups of 3, 4, 5, and 7. The suites are assigned during multiples room draw (Please note: Residence Life reserves the right to conduct judicial reviews of those who apply for multiples room draw. Groups may be excluded if individuals have exhibited problematic behaviors.)
*There will be no two person suites available this year. 2 person apartments at 48 Park will be part of the traditional doubles room draw.
Block housing: Blocks are designated clusters of rooms near each other. Blocks exist for groups of 4 and 5. Residence Life specifically designates the spaces used in block housing prior to room draw.
Quads: Quads are available for groups of 4 and are located in Sykes and Dean Eaton.
Triples: Triples are available for groups of 3 and are located in Dean Eaton, Sykes, 62 Park, and Kirk Douglas Hall. Some triples have their own bathroom.
Students who wish to participate in the multiples room draw must submit the Multiples Room Draw Application by April 4. Applications will be available online in the Residence Portal after spring break. Each group member must submit their own application. We will then average the lottery number of the applicants within each group to determine the order they will participate at multiples room draw. (Please note: Members of suspended groups or houses are not eligible to apply together for block housing.)
Once an application is submitted, group members cannot be changed and groups cannot be increased or decreased in number. The Multiples Room Draw Order will be posted on April 12. Groups must attend the Multiples Room Draw on Monday, April 15th at 6pm in Eben Holden and bring their id cards. When their averaged lottery number is called, they can select from the spaces available for their group size. If all members of the group cannot attend, one group member may represent the whole. If a group decides not to select or is unable to select when their number is called, they should continue on to singles and/or doubles room draw.
Singles - Singles room draw will be held on April 16 at 6pm in Eben Holden. Students interested in a single room should bring their Housing Lottery Card and student id card with them. Lottery numbers will be called from lowest to highest until all rooms have been assigned. When a student’s lottery number is called they may select from the rooms available or decline and continue on to the doubles room draw instead.
Singles may be available in Sykes, Dean Eaton, Hulett, Jencks, Whitman, and 62 Park. Specific offerings subject to change based on the results of block and theme housing. Additional single room fee applies.
Doubles - The doubles room draw for the classes of 2025 and 2026 will be April 22 at 6pm in Eben Holden. Doubles Room Draw for class of 2027 will be on April 23 at 6pm in Eben Holden. Students should bring their Housing Lottery Card and student id card with them.
When selecting a double room, the lowest lottery number of the roommates will be utilized. In order to select a room, students must be in groups of two. Double rooms may be available in 48 Park (apartments), Sykes, Dean Eaton, Hulett, Jencks, Whitman, 62 Park and Kirk Douglas Hall. Some doubles have bathrooms. Specific offerings subject to change based on the results of block and theme housing.
Lottery numbers will be called from lowest to highest until all rooms have been assigned. When a group’s lottery number is called they must select from the rooms available. If you would prefer something other than what you selected, you may submit a room change request in case new spaces open up over the summer.
Every year there are some students who are unable to select a room during room draw due to their lottery number and the space available. Those students are guaranteed a room which will be assigned over the summer as spaces become available. We encourage you to complete a housing preference sheet after room draw to assist us in assigning you housing.
