Capstone Gift Program
As Laurentian families you believe in the promise of something greater, the connection between opportunity and outcome for your student and every student at St. Lawrence. That’s why it has become a tradition at St. Lawrence for the parents and families of seniors to contribute to the Senior Capstone Gift. This annual fundraising campaign invites parents and families of seniors to honor their students’ St. Lawrence experience by making a gift towards one of the University's top priorities – to “cap” off their student’s undergraduate career with meaningful support of the people and programs that shaped their student’s time here.
What is the Capstone Gift Program? It's a joint fundraising effort between the current graduating class and their families. Families of seniors are encouraged to make a gift in their student’s senior year towards one of the University's top priorities. Total giving by the graduating class and their families (regardless of designation) will be announced and celebrated at Commencement.
Why “Capstone”? In academia, a capstone project is a culmination of rigorous work and research; in construction, capstone often refers to a top or finishing piece laid on a building. Either way, capstone marks accomplishment, completion, and the start of the next phase.
As its name implies, the St. Lawrence University Capstone Gift Program is an annual fundraising effort designed to celebrate students’ achievements and build a foundation of philanthropy.
How will my support of the Capstone Gift Program impact St. Lawrence? Your Capstone Gift is proof in action of your support of St. Lawrence University. A gift to the St. Lawrence Fund today will support current and future Laurentians who—like your student—think critically, question boldly, lead graciously, and are building lives & careers of impact.
As your student joins our renowned Alumni Network – recognized for years by the Princeton Review as one of the best in the nation – we thank you for considering a gift to support the people, place, and programs that shaped your student’s time at St. Lawrence. Should you choose to, your Capstone gift can be structured to create a legacy of philanthropy for your family at St. Lawrence.
How much should I give? It's entirely up to you. St. Lawrence is strongest when all senior families support this initiative at the level best suited for you. If you are interested in learning about naming opportunities, establishing and endowed fund, or would like to speak with a gift officer about your specific philanthropic interest, please email kmwells@stlawu.edu.
What is the most convenient way to make my gift? Give online. Upon making your gift, please indicate that you are a parent of a student by checking the box so we know to include your gift in the Capstone total.
What if I prefer to mail a check? Please make your check payable to St. Lawrence University, write “Capstone” on the memo line and include the name of your student. The mailing address is:

Is the Capstone Gift Program associated with the Senior Class gift? Yes! At St. Lawrence, it’s tradition for the Senior Class to choose a priority they will support with their Class Gift. This year, the Class of 2025 chose Class of 2025 Scholarship as the priority for their class gift. All gifts made by the Class of 2025 and their families (regardless of designation) will be counted in the Capstone Gift total.
