Departmental Learning Goals
Department Learning Goals
- Describe how atomic and molecular level structure impacts observable properties and reactivity.
- Use a variety of models to understand and explain chemical phenomena, being aware of their strengths and weaknesses.
- Apply thermodynamic and kinetic principles to explain chemical reactions.
- Develop safe and effective chemical laboratory skills that require use of the methods and instrumentation of modern chemistry.
- Construct scientific arguments and investigate real-world problems using chemical concepts, scientific literature, quantitative skills, and experimental data.
- Recognize the contributions, past and present, of researchers from diverse backgrounds and the ways in which diverse perspectives and experiences contribute to scientific discovery.
