Disc Golf
Equipment
Students can play with their own golf discs, or even regular frisbees (although golf discs are the superior choice, particularly for distance and putting). Students without their own discs may check out loaner golf discs for free (along with paper course maps) from the info desk at the Student Center.
Golf discs can also be purchased at Walmart in Potsdam, online through Amazon and other retailers, or special-ordered through Grasse River Outfitters in Canton. There is no cost to play disc golf at SLU (or at the majority of disc golf courses).
Rules
“Disc Golf is played like traditional golf, but with disc golf discs instead of balls and clubs. One throw (stroke) is counted each time the disc is thrown and when a penalty is incurred. The goal is to play each hole in the fewest strokes possible. The player with the lowest total strokes for the entire course wins. The hole is completed when the disc comes to rest in a disc golf basket.”

Play & Scoring
- Start at the tee for the first throw for each hole and play from directly behind the disc where it comes to rest until the hole is completed. Discs hitting the basket and falling out, or landing on top of the basket, do not count as finishing the hole.
- On or across the road for any hole is considered Out-of-Bounds (OB) and is assessed a one-stroke penalty.
- The SLU Disc Golf Course has seven par 3s and two par 4s (holes 4 and 8) for a total par of 29, or 58 if you play a full 18 holes.
- Players may keep score on their own, or through using the U-Disc app (https://udisc.com/).
- The U-Disc App is encouraged (but not required), as it helps us track course interest/usage for future improvements and expansion.
