When to Register an Event

Do I need to fill out an event registration form?

Ask yourself these questions:

Will there be alcohol at my event? (BYOB)

If yes, you need to fill out an Alcohol Event Registration Form – available at the Information Desk – and give to John Robert O'Connor, Director, Student Activities & Leadership.

Even though it is not an alcohol event, do you think those in attendance will come already under the influence?

If yes, you may or may not need to fill out a registration form. The answer will depend on the size of your event and what you are planning to do during your event.  However, it is always in your best interest if your answer is yes to the question above to arrange to have TIPS monitors at your event. A list of currently TIPS-Certified individuals is available on the SLU TIPS Program website.

Do you think 100 or more people will come to your non-alcohol event?

If yes, you will need to fill out a Special (Non-Alcohol) Event Registration Form– available at the Information Desk – and give to John Robert O'Connor, Director, Student Activities & Leadership.

Is this a new event, a very large event, an unusual event, or a special event?

If yes, to any of these, you might need to fill out an event registration form. The Office of Student Activities & Leadership staff can help you navigate the special nuances of planning and communicating with the necessary university departments.
